I ran away from too many t-shirts and toys, craft supplies in every corner of every room, the now 7 load mound of laundry in my bed I shamelessly hump each morning, papers and papers of self-important numbers and messages scrawled all over, to frolick in Krause Springs with Sarah.
I keep meaning to write, but I get distracted by visual beauty.
The drought is finally and thankfully over. It rained all week and so Sunday,
when the prodigal sun returned, there was a divine intervention.

Sarah and I should've met years ago, which we did, but we were both too shy to say anything.
I hate my sunglasses. HATE. I wear them because they are so ugly.
It's like sticking my tongue to a 9v battery.

This place is so utopian after a good rain.

I am too afraid to go into the cave on the right.

but I cannot resist a rope swing.

The squirrels wear black hoodies in these parts.

Almost too pretty to be real.
You should've seen us bounding over rocks all jungle book hopscotch.

Me n Tinkerbell. Can you believe her eyes? I mean goddamn.

Where the roots make like rapids.
We came upon a mini-Easter Island where someone before us had been balancing stones.

It bothers me that I don't know what this flower is. :(

s

Beckoning. This land is off in private property, where surely more loveliness secretly sprawls. But you cain't go or you'll get in trouble!

The people who care for the land here love stone sculptures as much as I do.

There is a butterfly garden at the entryway we saved for last
where passion flowers grew in a huge topiary. They smell as pretty as they are.

Sarah found this perfect little tangle, and I waited forever for the wind to stop blowing so I could get a good shot.

Where I'm from, if you have one of these in your yard
you should expect it to get shot at randomly by drunken rednecks.

On the way out.
I can't find places in the city nearly so heavenly.
Humor me if you can.
full set here.
The drive home, 70+ behind a truck pulling a flatbed.
A huge piece of plywood came flying out of it, spinning in the air toward us.
I swerved into the adjacent lane screaming like a lunatic and thankfully dodged it.
It took me a good 15 minutes to calm down. I had to hold my right knee still
to the accelerator I trembled so hard.
I'm no devout Christian, though had I not
moved out of the way in time my last words would have been "Oh God, Oh God"
