Date: 2006-01-03 06:17 pm (UTC)Also, I never really cared for Serpent and the Rainbow the movie, but I did enjoy the book (if ethnobotany rings your bell, and really for whom doesn't it?). I recommend reading the book and watching the video to Duran Duran's Waiting for the Night Boat. It's much creepier ;-)
I haven't seen a lot of these either. Do you NetFlix? We should befriend each other.

so, the Godfather doesn't seem too 'Dewd Movie' for you?

Date: 2006-01-03 06:28 pm (UTC)Do you like horror movies? I recently saw Black Christmas and thought it was outstanding. I guess one would call it proto-slasher.

Devil's Advocate (only for its horror though. the story suuucked)
Exorcist
28Days Later
LOVED American Psycho, though i don't view it as a horror, but more of a comedy
they have to be sort of believable...

Date: 2006-01-04 03:25 pm (UTC)sunset blvd is on both lists... :)
Date: 2006-01-04 03:31 pm (UTC)Caberet (but see the play, not the movie...the movie's not that good but the play usually is)
Elizabeth
Hat Full of Rain (totally impossible to find. The only people that have this like taped it off PBS the one time it was on. My theater prof had to like steal it from someone to show it to us)
Rosemary's Baby--what are you waiting for. Techniques in this were innovative--we take them for granted today. The phone scene, that's all I'm saying, genius :).
woops! i removed it.
Date: 2006-01-04 03:39 pm (UTC)i finished Elizabeth last night...& wow.
thanks you for the suggestions, m'love *muah*

happiness
Date: 2006-01-03 08:42 pm (UTC)Others I loved by Neil LaBute - Your Friends and Neighbors and In the Company of Men. Not up everyone's alley, but I loved them. Of course, we will always differ on Harold and Maude - must be a generational thing....
Re: happiness
Date: 2006-01-03 09:03 pm (UTC)maybe having friends of mine kill themselves gave me a sour taste for movies that romanticize suicide. i just didn't think the lady all that cool in the end.
i've been hearing about Palindromes and when i read the back this weekend i didn't quite understand the appeal. i'ma take you up on it. i've been hearing alot of good about it.
Me, You & Everyone We Know deals with statutory whateveryoucallit, sexual deviation? but in an accessible way? eeeee touchy subject. (NPI)
