E and I moseyed around East 6th, the weekend before last.



His name is Yagi. He looks like he should be able to talk.


We sing No One in the car together w the windows down, taking turns w the verses.

There is a group of graffiti kids who rool South Austin.
I want to be a graffiti kid dammit, but I don't know how to make friends with them.
There is one who I am contacts w on flickr, but he would probly laugh at me
if i ask to join his graffiti club. :(((
I have a really dumb fantasy about bringing a can of paint w me, and just
walking up to them and joining in like SUP.
But then the fantasy sometimes turns bad, and they shank me
and spray a mustache on my face.




domestically inclined daughter mine, who alphabetizes all the movies "for fun."


I wonder if they have a honeymoon suite.












Then today we hiked Lost Pines.
I was inspired by mojodragonfly's recent post on this trail,
being a gulf state girl. It was stunning how this park is hidden away
and such a contrast to the surrounding environment.
The smell of the trees and clay was enough to get me teary w nostalgia.


The forest floor is rust red, covered in pine needles.




Deep hunter green fronds.






I wonder what kind of wings he will have...






The needles fall down onto everything and get caught on the branches. Pinecicles.






Surreal how this place looks straight out of my childhood
and happens to be only 45 minutes away.

and the forest is very much like a dreary fairy tale. that's a good description. it gets really dark in the pines, the way they tower down.

i think it is because the pines are so out of place in this area. the park is on a strange plot of land where the soil is acidic enough for them to grow.

i've only really seen them in my home state, hundreds of miles away.

They can't be all that messed up if they are giving propers to Miss Day.
Get a bird hunter's coat (for the huge pockets) so you can hold four cans on each side. Be bravado (with some Haggrid figure looking on the first day). They'll probably make you queen of their universe if you just show up a lot.

i never said they were messed up. but just very very cool. and i am very not cool. it's a whole different medium that terrifies me like watercolor or oils! i'm afraid they would be able to tell i feigned confidence. :/

me TOO about the lion n tiger. i like that the tiger is the girl.

the only thing different about my childhood forest and the one in the fotos is that this one is over small hills. wears me OUT.

i moved to austin, tx ten years ago, but am originally from central louisiana, in a town that's not on the map.
